Millie’s Mission
Life can change in an instant. I know, because mine did. Years ago, a near-fatal accident left me an above-knee amputee, forcing me to navigate a reality I never expected. The journey was not one of quick acceptance or easy faith—it was a long, often painful wrestle with God, full of questions, grief, and the aching search for purpose when life no longer looked anything like I had imagined.

In the midst of that struggle, God began to show me that my pain, while deeply personal, could also be a bridge to others who were hurting. My therapy dog, Millie—a golden retriever with only three legs—became the heart of that mission. Together, we visit hospitals, schools, and community events through a local pet therapy organization, bringing comfort, hope, and a reminder that life can still hold joy and connection after loss.
Far better than the attempt to understand is the humility that admits its ignorance and waits quietly on God, trusting that He will use my pain by shaping it into the very tools I need to walk alongside others in theirs.
This work is not about erasing the hard parts of my story—it’s about allowing God to weave them into something meaningful. Every time Millie and I walk into a room, our missing legs tell a silent story: you can lose something precious and still be whole, still be loved, and still bring light to others.
My hope is that through our visits, people will not only smile in the moment but carry with them the quiet assurance that their own pain can one day become a source of strength for someone else.
