Lynn's Story
From Amputee to Prosthetist
Before becoming a prosthetist, Lynn was an amputee.
For six months, Lynn endured surgeries, treatments, setbacks, and uncertainty as doctors attempted to save her leg. When it finally became clear that amputation was the best path forward, she faced the difficult task of rebuilding her life and reimagining what the future might look like.
The experience gave Lynn a firsthand understanding of the physical, emotional, and practical challenges that come with limb loss.
Through her own recovery and decades of work with amputees, Lynn saw firsthand how often the emotional side of limb loss goes unaddressed. She came to understand that mobility, confidence, relationships, purpose, and mental wellbeing are deeply connected.
A few years later, she became a Certified Prosthetist and Orthotist and spent more than 30 years helping thousands of amputees regain mobility, independence, and confidence.
Today, Lynn serves exclusively as a Lifelong Prosthetics Amputee Coach, providing education, guidance, and support based on over 30 years of personal and professional experience. She does not evaluate, treat, fabricate, or adjust prosthetic devices.
Recognizing the importance of supporting the whole person, Lynn earned a Mental Health First Aid certification through the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. This training equipped her to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health challenges and substance use disorders, providing another way to support amputees throughout their journey.
Lynn founded Lifelong Prosthetics with a vision of creating something she wished had existed when she became an amputee:
